So, I have a friend that is starting a business selling sporting
gear. He has a great concept and a way he wants to sell his product, but he struggles
with the marketing aspect through social media. Today I will discuss some hot
tips and tactics which will help him in advertising his brand to people on
social media.
Hot tip
#1 – Build Relationships
Social media platforms are your best friend as they are free for
basic use! And nearly the whole world has or is using some sort of social media
platform. By using these platforms, he can start to build relationships between
potential customers and the brand (Chaffey & Ellis-Chadwick, 2016). In some
cases, he will be selling his gear to professional sporting teams that will
purchase in bulk if the product is great. It is really important for brands to
build a connection with people as this then creates excitement and hype around
their products. From personal experience social media has a huge effect on
trends of a brand. As for my friend I think that he should explore not only the
regular used platforms like, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube but sites
like LinkedIn, Snapchat or even a blog site like this one!
Hot tip
#2 - Digital Marketing
Get the product into the hands of people with high social status
people that love fitness so that their followers see your product through their
social media. Youtubers are always being sent the latest press releases from
different companies and as part of this they are expected to review and promote
the products to their audience. I have a friend who is promoting different
clothing brands on his social media and I have noticed that more and more
people these days are doing this to receive free things but to also grow not
only their followers but also the followers of the brand they are promoting.
Hot tip
#3 – Audience
Your target audience as we all know are the people you want to
sell you product to. You need to know the demographic you are targeting. This
means gender, age, religious background, financial status and other information.
From here you should develop a plan to see who needs or might want your product
and if you should sell to sporting organisations, schools or individuals.
Knowing your audience allows you to portray your message in a way that will
make it easier when it comes to social media marketing as you can put your
brand out there to these demographics on their pages in the form of sponsor
sights, ads or pop-ups.
Hot tip
#4 - Visuals
Visuals are your best friend!! From a personal point of view, I
much rather look at a picture than reading a post. I think that’s why Snapchat
and Instagram are such a big hit! It draws the consumer in and gives a
representation of what the product you are offering is.It can also demonstrate
the quality of the product which might encourage more people to purchase the
product. You can also lead them to your website to order or inquire further
about the product.
These hot tips will help my friend be successful with his social
media marketing strategy and will support the growth of his business.
